Community Support & Assistance

  • Food Assistance
    Feeding the Gulf Coast (formerly Bay Area Food Bank): Offers food pantries, summer meals, backpack meal programs, mobile pantries, and nutrition education. Use their “Find Help” tool to locate services near you and always call ahead to confirm details.

  • Housing & Rental Assistance
    Biloxi Housing Authority: Offers Public Housing, Section 8 vouchers, and Low-Income Housing Tax Credit units in the city.
    HUD Housing Counseling: National hotline for rent, eviction, and foreclosure assistance (800‑569‑4287).
    Emergency Housing Voucher Program: For families at risk of homelessness, including survivors of domestic violence or human trafficking.

  • Back Bay Mission – Provides food pantry access, showers, laundry, mail services, housing repair for low-income families, and case management for individuals experiencing homelessness along the Gulf Coast. Located at 1012 Division St., Biloxi. Phone: (228) 432-0301.

  • Utilities & Case Management
    Harrison County Community Resources (Biloxi): Offers food pantry access, clothing, utility bill support, showers, laundry, help securing IDs or birth certificates, and intensive case management.

  • Transportation
    Coast Transit Authority (CTA): Public bus service in Biloxi, Gulfport, Ocean Springs, D’Iberville, and more. Popular routes include Pass Road (Route 34) and Casino Hopper. Paratransit and ADA services available.

Education & Youth Support

  • Tutoring & Academic Help
    Learn To Be: Free online 1-on-1 tutoring in math and reading for K–9 students.
    School Tutoring Academy: In-person tutoring for Pre-K through high school in Biloxi across various subjects.
    Sylvan Learning (Gulfport): Tutoring K–12, test prep, STEM camps, study skills, and readiness programs.

  • Scholarships
    Gulf Coast Community Foundation – Rotary Club of Biloxi Scholarship: For Biloxi-area high school seniors.
    USS Biloxi Scholarship (University of Southern Mississippi): $1,000 award for Biloxi High School graduates entering USM.

  • Small Business Support

    Southeast Mississippi community colleges: Provide basic and advanced work skills training, pre-employment preparation, and retraining programs.
    Mississippi WIN (Workforce Investment Network): Connects job seekers with employers, job fairs, recruiting, and on-the-job training with partial wage reimbursement.
